Apart from citrus, this mite is important pest from rose, almond, pear, peach, cherry and apple.
Nature of Damage:
The mite causes stippling, light coloured spots and greyish or silvery appearance on leaves. It feeds both on leaves and fruits causing bronzing or silvering of the surfaces. Mites also suck the sap from green fruits.
Life Cycle:
Development from egg to adult is completed in 14-15 days. Female and male longevity varies from 7-11 days and 6-9 days, respectively. Each female lays 50 pearly white, subspherical eggs. It over-winters as an egg in twigs and bark of trees.
