Nature of Damage:
Mites scrap the epidermis and suck the cell sap of leaves. As a result of feeding, white patches are formed on leaves. Colonies, which are parallel to the midrib, are formed, on the underside of leaves.
Life Cycle:
It is completed in 11-16 days during September-October and 31-48 days in November-February. It is active throughout the year in tropics. Its population remains high during mid-June to October end in the sub-tropics. It is more severe in ratoon crop than on plant crop. Dispersal occurs through wind.
